Many of the Chaos players are lucky enough to know Chuck H. Butler.
He is one of our Friday Knight/Hamlin Pub Shark team mates. For
the last several years he has set an example that has motivated us all.
I think it is only appropriate to tell all of the Chaos players about
Chuckles. This is certain to motivate the team to our ultimate goal of
another Niagara Championship.
Chuckles started playing hockey relatively late in life. Was it
enough to just start playing? Absolutely not. Once
Chuckles is in, he is all the way in. Chuckles was not content playing
once a week with the Friday Knights. He decided to form his own team.
This way he could nominate himself as the Captain and play whatever position
he wanted. He can also keep players or kick them off the team.
Over the last several years, Chuck and his team, The Hamlin Pub Sharks,
have emerged from the pathetic depths of despair to a fledgling D- League
Dynasty. Of course, it helps that Captain Chaos and Paul McDonald both
play on the team, but so what? We all have to like his will to win.
Chuck is certainly improving each year, but he does have a problem scoring
due to his tendency to shoot the puck well wide of the net. In
addition to running the team, Chuck publishes game notes within 54 hours of
the end of the game. (We have Jay who gives me the Chaos game
summaries about 51 weeks after each game) Chuck's game notes are known
to us all as Shark Bytes and they have every imaginable stat and chart known
to man.
Is it enough to play and form a team dynasty? Again, the answer is
no. Chuckles has dedicated his backyard and also the commons area of
his subdivision to the construction of "Butler Arena". This is the ice
rink you see in the picture above. He has turned this into such a
science that even people in Canada have sent him cash for his "How to build
an ice rink" instruction manual. Hockey is life in the winter
for the Butler family (except for his wife). His son and daughter are
both out there with him almost every night. On most nights, Chuckles
pretty much dominates play at both ends of his rink. He has even
taught his daughter to say that I am "mean". Figure that one out.
Along with Macaskill and Sandstrom, we have commissioned a song for
Captain Chuckles. It was tough but we managed to get Credence
Clearwater Revival back together for 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Make sure your speakers are on and then click on
this link and enjoy !
