| Here is a VERY important lesson that we have to learn.
Especially people like Macaskill who rarely, if ever, scores a goal.
Stay calm. Act like you have scored before. If not, bad things
can happen. Look at poor Don Doane. After 45 years on the same team,
he finally bowled a perfect game. What did he do? Did he stay
calm and act like it was no big deal? No, he went crazy and look what
happened. He died of a heart attack. Don't let this happen to
you.
We should probably take this lesson a step farther. Let's all stay
calm even if Macaskill scores a goal. Act like it has happened before
no matter how surprised you really are. Stay calm even if Benninger
gets an assist that did not ricochet off the goalie's pads. This will
be hard, but it will be necessary - especially since we are all getting
older.
Here is another lesson. Do not join a sports team with a stupid
name. How would you like to have an embarrassing obituary like him.
Don Doane didn't just die of a heart attack, he did it while bowling for the
Nutt Farm. Play for a team that takes the sport seriously.
Like the Detroit Chaos.
If you are going to die of a heart attack, pick a different indoor sport
and stay out of the bowling alley. Maybe stay at home and die in the
bedroom. |
