Pete McDonald
Dedication, Commitment, Insanity

Who could ever forget the 2003 Chaos season where Pete came back from a near fatal leg injury.   If you forgot about it, then click on these links to see the brutality and subsequent awe  inspiring story.  Leg recovery Part 1 , Leg recovery Part 2 , Leg recovery Part 3

This year, the story will be no less inspiring.  Just before Halloween, Pete had a near fatal shoulder injury breaking his collarbone into 4 pieces - as you can see in the x-ray.  Just look how close the sharp end of the bone came to ripping apart his jugular vein or piercing his aorta.   Only a miracle saved him.

The prognosis from the Doctor was grim.   He asked how it happened and upon learning that it was a hockey injury, he stated that as far as he was concerned, this is a career ending injury.   Pete's quick reply, being a true Chaos player, was "I don't know about that, but I do know it is a career ending injury for those shitty shoulder pads".  The Doctor said that best case would be 6-8 months recovery which fortunately gets him back in time for Niagara.   But immediate surgery with steel plates and screws would be required.  As you can see, this is already done.   As of  December 18th, Pete had already skated a warm-up and one short shift for the Sunday Hamlin Pub Sharks.

This kind of dedication, commitment, and insanity should inspire each and every Chaos player and fan.  There can be no obstacles to lacing them up and being on the ice in Niagara.   No injury can be too great to keep you on the sideline.   Especially if you happen to be the leading scorer and Rocket Richard trophy winner from the previous year like Pete - the team could not win without him and he knows it.
