Safety First

Callahan, 22, was hit by roommate Ryan Sproul’s hard slap shot while camped in front of the net in the Griffins’ 6-1 victory against Iowa on April 2. He bent over before quickly escorted off the ice by team trainer John Bernal with a towel wrapped around his face.

He underwent surgery the following day for a fractured jaw and a mouthful of lost teeth.

“I realized it wasn't great when teeth were just falling out of my mouth. And the puddle of blood didn't help either,” Callahan said in an email exchange Monday, April 7, with The Grand Rapids Press/MLive.com. His jaw is wired shut, limiting his speech.

So far this year we have learned what happens when you are not safe from a squirrel who forgot his jock strap and from Simon Courcelles who forgot his mask.   Now the Chaos players can learn from another hockey player, Mitch Callahan.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, here is another case where a guy just thinks he is quicker and better than he really is.  He has faith in the other players and faith that God will keep him safe.  Well, that doesn't always work Alex, Tyler, Mike and Troy, so use what little brains you have and get a mask so the rest of the team doesn't lose ice time while your teeth are picked out of the ice.   I think if you put all of your brain power together, you would be at about 40% of a normal person.  That should be just about enough to make a smart decision.

At least this guy is smart.  Look at his quote.   He ar um genius.   He realized it wasn't a great situation, but by then it was too late.   I am sure he will heal soon and  nobody will ever notice that it happened.  On the other hand, maybe not and he will be scarred for life..
