Risk / Reward

This is a tough one to read and a tough one to write.  On one hand, you have to applaud a guy for addressing a deficiency.    If you are weak, try to get stronger.  If you can't see, get glasses.  If you can't hear, get a hearing aid.  If you suck at hockey, practice.  It is simple and how to get ahead (a head?!) in life.

On the other hand, you have to balance the risk versus the reward.   If you can't see, getting glasses probably won't hurt you.  If you suck at hockey, practice and you might get better (for sure you won't get worse).

But let's think about this guy for a moment.  He has plenty of money, but is lacking in a certain physical area.  He has the money to try to fix it, but there is risk.   Take it a step farther, what does he really gain by getting his issue fixed?  It seems like NOTHING.   He is a billionaire.  He can get whatever he wants ... especially girls since he should know that diamonds are a girl's best friend.    Why risk death for nothing?

He either did not think about risk reward or I am missing something.  Maybe he just wanted to be able to stand up at the urinal and get it past his zipper to keep his pants dry.   But this doesn't make sense either.  He is 65 years old.  Why wait so long if that was the issue?

A Chaos player must certainly balance the risk/reward in every situation.   If you are skating in on a 2 on one with Pete, there is very little risk passing to him since he would certainly score.  On the other hand if it is Kappler, he would most likely whiff completely.  Better to take a risk of hearing about being a puck hog and just shoot it yourself.

Balance the Risk Reward in all situation.  If you want one more beer, consider if it is worth it.  if it is early in the night, no problem.  But if it is late, remember Lovell sleeping on the Super 8 lawn, remember Tyler in the Kalamazoo taxi.

As extra motivation, look at the last line in the article.  This billionaire started out as a masseuse at a Hilton.  Talk about working your way up?  This should motivate us all.  If a small in size masseuse can work his way up to being a billionaire then it should not be asking too much for all of us to elevate our games and find a way to win a championship in Nashville.  Clearly anything is possible.

As a side comment, it seems I'm not the only one who is making a bit of fun at this unfortunate man's expense.  I found some newspapers reporting this with his nickname ... DIAMOND GEEZER.  Now that's funny.
